Bangkok in Blue
18″ x 24″ | 2000 | Acrylic, Objects | NFS
This is a found object assemblage piece that explores the magic of expression through movement, showcasing a traditional dancer in costume from Thailand in the center.
The dance itself affects the surrounding atmosphere, rearranging the molecular space around dancer. The red color behind her signifies the bold excitement of possibilities while the blue hue shows what has been that now lives in memory. The blue color itself saturates the scene, with varying subtle depths and shades combining into one. The texture of the artwork invites the viewer to imagine the shifts between smooth and course surfaces, much like our everyday environments. The dancer has the epiphany that she is both separate yet apart of everything.
This piece is made up of objects on canvas such as buttons, paper and wooden fans, used paint brushes, keys, puzzle pieces, and the Thai dancer figure.
