This is a found object assemblage piece. Objects such as sticks, packing material, Slinkys and chess pieces make up this free-hanging self portrait. This piece explores the idea of what actually makes up or defines an individual being.
On an elemental level, among the communities of individually conscious cells, bacteria and energy that makes up a being, where exactly is the “I”? Between dreams, involuntary ideas and the unconscious, where are “you”? Our memories make up most of what we call reality, but those are reconstructed at the moment of recollection.
This is a “self portrait” from a different viewpoint
